ーHow did you find Docomo and why you could not find sim-card ? Fira:

I thought it was cheaper to contract with the mobile company. Nurul:

They all said on the website that Japan do not really do like a sim-card thing. Fira:

Oh, but one of my Indonesian international students in our campus said he now uses Y-mobile service, the cheaper sim-card one, right ? Nurul:

Yeah. Actually I knew the Y-mobile service but I couldn`t, so I changed to softbank, the another company that is more expensive. He said his mother could accompany with him, but I could not do the same thing. It is weird not to contract with the mobile service if the users are under 20. Fira:

It`s so hard to make a contract under 20 years old without their parents/guardians. On the first day I went to au, but because my father had already left Japan, we had to prepare documents, parental consent, passport, and then I called to my father. Then after the proses, they said “Oh, sorry, you need a credit” but they didn`t tell that beforehand.

ーThen why didn`t you come to the administration office to ask for help ? Fira:

At first I want to go to the mobile shop with my supporter from school, but we didn`t need to go at last because my senior could accompany with me for the contract. That staff spoke Japanese, but it`s no problem because the senior who picked me up translated into Indonesian. Anyway, it is nice if you have a Japanese supporter from school. Nurul:

There is a handbook for international students from our campus that tells a lot about the system of using mobile phone in Japan. Fira: I think it was written the package information about docomo. It was about ¥7,000/month (3GB) for that, because that company is the only one that we could make a contract without a credit card.

In fact, it is hard for all the children (under 20) to make a contract by themselves at least in Japan in order to protect network security. They are afraid of the possibility that children could be involved in any kind of security problems and dependency on the internet/games so that their parents are forced to pay for the services. But for the children without guardians such as Fira and Nurul, it is troublesome to establish their comfortable life by themselves.

On the next post, we`ll tell you about the another thing that should be known beforehand. So please take a look!
