We`d like to share information about several scholarships for foreign students ! There are four types of scholarships for international students who study in Japan below, 1. Japanese government (MEXT) Scholarships 2. Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Scholarships 3. Local governments / Local International Associations Scholarships 4. Private Foundations Scholarships
This post talks about the Japanese government (MEXT) Scholarships for international students in various academic institutions since 1954. There are seven types in Japanese Government Scholarships, according to the length of the period, field of their study and their institutions.

1. Young Leaders’ Program(YLP) Students
・・・1 year / ¥242,000 per month 2. Research Students (Graduate School Students & Research Students) ・・・up to 2 year for research students / ¥143,000 (non-degree students) per month ¥144,000 (master course) per month ¥145,000 (doctoral course) per month 3. Teacher Training Students ・・・up to 1.5 year / ¥143,000 (non-degree students) per month ¥144,000 (master course) per month ¥145,000 (doctoral course) per month 4. Undergraduate Students ・・・5 years in general / ¥117,000 per month 5. College of Technology Students
・・・4 years in general / ¥117,000 per month 6. Specialized Training College Students ・・・3 years in general / ¥117,000 per month 7. Japanese Studies Students
・・・1 school year / ¥117,000 per month
